El Cid Campeador, whose real name was Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, was an outstanding warrior and military hero of medieval Spain. He is a legendary figure in Spanish history, known for his military exploits during the Reconquista.  

Doña Jimena, Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar's great love, was an 11th-century aristocrat from Asturias, traveller with the troops in times of war, administrator of the family estate and governor of Valencia for three years.  

According to historians, this epic romance is very much a myth: Jimena and Rodrigo married out of interest, to unite a Leonese house and an Asturian house. Love marriages among the aristocracy were rare.   

This impressive Duplex is located on the first floor of the Palace (it has 3 floors).  

On the upper floor there are two bedrooms and a complete bathroom with shower and American shower tray. The modern bathroom has a large shower, its lights remind us of a theatre dressing room. The master suite has a bed (1.50 x2m) for two people and a 36" plasma TV.   

The second bedroom has a bed (1.50 x 1.50 m) for two people. The wardrobes for both bedrooms are in the corridor on the same floor.  Amenities, bed linen and towels are included. 

On the lower floor you will find a cosy modern space with a sofa that converts into a 190mx140m bed for two people and a 36" plasma TV. Both the sofa and the armchairs are of design and stand out for their comfort. The modern open plan kitchen is fully equipped with ceramic hob, oven, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and complete kitchenware.  

We love this flat for being so homely and for its beautiful photograph of the fragment of the work "La Jura de Santa Gadea" given by El Senado...ideal for families or couples of friends who want to spend a weekend in Madrid.
