Introducing us to the mid-14th century, to a story as old as time: two lovers unjustly separated. But while the drama of King Peter I and his queen Ines de Castro has shades of Romeo and Juliet at its source, it ends in an even more terrible place: imagine Shakespeare's love story, but with a horror movie ending. Peter I fell in love with Ines de Castro, who was his wife's lady-in-waiting and whose father was a Spanish nobleman. Peter's father, the Portuguese King Alfonso IV, did not approve of this love and exiled Agnes. The exiled woman returned to Portugal after the death of her wife, was reunited with her beloved and they had four children. But in this case the story did not have a happy ending. King Alfonso still disagreed with this union as it was a great political risk for the Portuguese royal line and had her killed. The prince led an uprising against his father, starting a civil war within Portugal. When Pedro came to the throne after his father's death, he sought out his beloved's murderers and cut out their hearts. He also vowed to make Agnes queen of Portugal, even in death. Years after her murder, he dug up her decomposing body and carried it in procession from Coimbra to Alcobaça, so that he could always rest in front of her.  

 This bright and quiet flat is on the first floor of the palace.  The bedroom has a bed (1.80m x 2m) for two people, a 32" plasma TV, large wardrobes and a spacious bathroom with an American shower.  

 In the living room you will find a cosy modern space with a sofa that converts into a 140m x 190m bed for two people and a 36" plasma TV.  Both the sofa and the armchairs are of design and stand out for their comfort.   

 The modern open plan kitchen is fully equipped with ceramic hob, oven, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and complete kitchenware.    

 We love the magnificent views of the Plaza del Conde de Miranda.
